Ephesians 6: 11-17
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
The above mentioned verses totally describe the way we should be living, – a life pleasing in the eyes of God. We cannot get in agreement with both God and the devil one. They are totally opposite of each other. If one thinks that they can please God while serving the devil at the same time, they could not be more mistaken!
Yes, we are living in a world full of sin and ungodliness, but that is not what comes naturally to us.
Have you ever wondered why people cannot get peace despite making huge sums of money, changing jobs, changing mates, living on alcohol, drugs and other addictions? Because, that is not what we are created for! We are created in the likeness of God, to live in constant fellowship with Him. There is a void in our lives only God can fill. But the devil loves to keep us busy in making money, gossiping, shopping, spending time on the internet, watching immoral things so we do not spend enough time with God. Therefore, we make the devil rejoice! Yes, we make him celebrate. And that is what, encourages him to fight with God.
After we have accepted Jesus Christ, as our Lord and savior, every time we allow Satan to tempt us, we dishonor God and His ultimate sacrifice, Christ Jesus. People who are in darkness are away from God anyway, but what about the ones, who call themselves the children of God. Are they doing what they should be doing? Or are they still serving the devil even after accepting Jesus in their lives? Perhaps yes.
This is the very reason that Paul says that we by our own deeds and determination, cannot fight with Satan, but by putting on God’s armor. Its time that we stop compromising with the devil and start fighting against him. The picture illustrates the urgency and passion empowered level style of fighting we must do to protect our faith and that of our loved ones alike.
16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
The devil is constantly throwing flaming arrows on us, to separate us from God. He often uses money, addictions, depression, suicide, unforgiveness, guilt etc. to shake our trust in the Lord. Remember that he is the father of lies, and has no truth in him. Many people die thinking that their sins cannot be forgiven and they do not deserve to live. STOP LISTENING TO THE CURSES OF SATAN! The scripture tells us that we are already forgiven and blessed. REFUSE TO LISTEN TO THE DEVIL! Instead, start rebuking him and fighting against him by uttering what God promises. You will grow strong in your faith every day through prayer and reading the scriptures. Once you are girded up with the word of God, proclaim and speak God’s promises over your lives and the lives of those around you.
It is God’s desire that everyone be saved from eternal damnation. The plight of hell is only intended for Satan. God wants to save us, but we also have a responsibility while here on earth, to fight against Satan & his army and to get in agreement with God. And we can fight against him by the weapons that God has provided us already – truth, righteousness, preaching of the gospel, faith, salvation and the Spirit of God.
Be truthful always, accepting God’s righteousness and not staying ignorant to the Word. Let’s be filled with the passion to spread the gospel of peace to everyone. Our faith should be full of actions and not only empty words. We must take up the gift of “salvation” wholeheartedly and with thanksgiving and seek for Holy Spirit’s guidance in every decision of our lives – whether big or small, important or unimportant.
The devil cannot stand against these weapons, so stop being afraid and GET READY TO FIGHT!
May the Lord be with you.
