Come Out of Your Adulterous Relationship?

Jeremiah 3:14: “Turn, O backsliding children,
saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city,Search my heart for faithfulness
and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion”

Adultery in common parlance means being unfaithful and
bringing disgrace to the spouse. It also means that the one committing adultery
is not a person of integrity and cannot be trusted.

Consider the verses stated above. The Lord says that He is
married unto us. How?

Because when we place our hope Lord Jesus Christ, He becomes
our only Lord and Savior and we are born into the family of God. We become a
part of His covenant.

Satan can no more claim to be our father. We are reconciled
to the one who created us. The Almighty God becomes our Father and Jesus, our
brother and the Holy Spirit our counselor, forever. The Lord also talks about
taking His chosen people to the city of Zion,
depicting salvation. God’s will is to save everyone.

However, it requires a great of commitment from us, just
like in a marriage. A Christian marriage is a covenant. If either partner is
unfaithful, the relationship breaks into bits and pieces, but the covenant
still remains in place. The relationship is no longer considered righteous and
holy, until the partner found guilty takes responsibility of his or her actions
and truly confesses their sin and sincerely repents. Repentance means to turn
away from the old sinful nature and be a men and women of integrity. The
partner then fully aware of his/her sins and wrongdoings must make a serious
commitment to be faithful to their spouse and keep the marriage holy from
thereon.

That’s exactly what God requires us to do! To confess our
sins and wrongdoings and turn away from our sinful desires. God does not want
us to be faithful for His own good, but for our good. So that we may be saved.
What a loving and kind God we serve!

There must be hundreds of thoughts, words and actions, which
may be good in our sight, but not in the Lord’s. We may be born and raised in a
Christian home, but we may be committing spiritual adultery against the Lord in
some way or the other every single day. The most reliable way to check our walk
with the Lord is to sink deep into his word -the Bible.

Let us promise to be faithful to God, because He has been
faithful to us despite our immorality and adultery. Lets choose to be men and
women of integrity bringing honor and glory to God, our Father.

May God be with you.
