What is Faith?
An ancient history book states faith as: “Being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you don’t see.”
In other words, faith is waiting in anticipation for things that we can NOT see.
As a believer in Christ, do we have enough faith? Do we have faith in God’s promises?
Do we believe that God loves us? Do we believe that Christ has taken up all our diseases, weakness and addictions on the Cross? Do we believe that in Christ, we have a life in all fullness, in all abundance? Do we believe that by His stripes we are healed? Do we believe that demons run away when we pray?
Luke 8:25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
That is what Jesus asks us today: “Where is your faith?”
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
So, how do we get enough faith in our hearts? Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.
Just consider this! Can you trust someone whom you don’t know? Obviously NOT !
Our God is so just and kind, that He does not want us to trust Him without knowing Him. He wants us to know Him completely, His attributes, His character and then expects us to trust Him and have faith in Him. Jesus wants us to know Him first, and then put our trust in Him. God does not want us to trust Him without knowing Him. And that is exactly why it is said in the scripture that faith comes by hearing the Word of Christ. And it is only when we learn about His goodness and mercy, that we would love Him with all our heart, which is the most important commandment of all. When we learn to love Him, we would obey Him as well and have immovable faith. And such faith is not only seen in a believer’s words, but his actions as well.
The devil hates it when we pray and loves to you keep us away from Jesus. But remember, Jesus has already defeated the devil 2000 years back. We are already redeemed, saved and victorious. All we have to do is to believe in the One who died for our sins, Christ Jesus, our Lord.
John 16:7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
So, my friends, if your faith is not strong enough today, ask God to help you know Him and then trust Him. If the battles of life are getting too much for you and the little faith that you have is shuddering, make it the desire of your heart to know God through Jesus. Just remember that He loved you so much, that though He was Sinless, He chose to die in your place. Your relationship with Him would be the best thing that will ever happen to you. Know Him, seek Him, trust Him, love Him. You don’t have to be rich or highly educated. You don’t require any qualifications to come to Jesus, but only faith. Receive His anointing of the Holy Spirit and He would guide you in all your ways.
May God bless you abundantly and give you childlike faith. Amen!
